Catharsis Factor: Getting the Golden Ending where all the bad guys are punished while Colorado and Arizona both get saved is next-to-impossible if you don't take the proper steps, but goddamn is it satisfying. For an original song, the busker in downtown Colorado will sing a very slow, melancholy oral tradition about the history of the Desert Rangers, including the plots of the first two games.Really, anything arranged by Joe Hill for this game.Similarly, the cover of Joe Hill's "Power in a Union", which plays during the Battle of Steeltown DLC during two pivotal battles.A pumping cover of "Down by the River to Pray", which occurs when killing Isaac Reed for betraying Colorado or during the battle against Iridium and Deuterium during the Holy Detonation DLC.

An incredibly intense, minor key version of the "Battle Hymn of the Republic" occurs at the end of a dungeon to free or possibly kill Ironclad Cordite. The game's Signature Scene is set to a frantic battle on top of a dam while a slow cover of "Blood of the Lamb" plays.Awesome Music: Certain climactic fights in the game are punctuated with actual songs that play throughout various combats, often covers of hymns. In this game, while Assault Rifles and Sniper Rifles still have their solid place, they are just one option among many. Or, which was even more broken, perform a volley salvo of burst fire from all those assault rifles on a single, tough enemy, easily killing it without any chance to even react, not to mention retaliate. In Wasteland 2, the best possible team was a squad entirely decked out in Assault Rifles, save for a single Sniper whose job it was to initiate combat. The cumulative effect of all these changes is that there is no longer one build that is simply superior all the time.Non-combat skills like Lockpicking were turned into binary pass/fail and let you know the difficulty in advance, removing the incentive for Save Scumming which clogged the previous game.Putting ranks into a few skills when starting the game only to find a companion who is much better at that skill is not as harsh this time around. Skills are much cheaper for the first three ranks. In the previous game, not having at least 3-4 ranks in a weapon skill made even switching to that weapon as a backup or alternate choice mostly pointless. In addition, most weapon skills start at a higher base level of accuracy, providing more incentive to have a back-up weapon. This was so efficient they even added new weapons, like flamethrowers, shrink grenades, and a Frozen Ferret Launcher- most of which use Weird Science as their skill- making the game even more diverse when it came to weapon options. The game combined Pistols and Shotguns into Small Arms, Assault Rifles and Submachine Guns into Automatic Weapons, Bladed and Blunt into Melee weapons, and Energy Weapons were simply folded into other categories as an alternate type of ammo, such as Laser Pistols, Laser Blunt weapons, Laser Assault Rifles, etc. The ten weapon skills of Wasteland 2 were largely condensed into six for this game, reducing the need to spend points into too many different weapons (which in practice left many weapon types ignored).Strength is now valuable for any character who is not a Sniper due to giving you a decent batch of extra Hit Points and the ability to wear armor that will keep you alive. Attributes were more balanced and now offer a variety of benefits, with Intelligence no longer being One Stat to Rule Them All and Strength no longer being the Dump Stat you (melee fighters not withstanding) grudgingly put points into to deal with the annoyances of encumbrance.
